THE FAMOUS K-BEAUTY SERUM NICKNAMED THE “DAMN SERUM” – WE FIND OUT WHY AND IS IT AS SCARY AS IT SOUNDS?

Here at Mask Time HQ there’s been buzzing going around about this serum that is known as “Damn Serum” due to it’s apparently painful side effects so we wanted to test the theory out!

We all know that Korean skincare is known for its results with its gentle but effective formulas, however this cult fave still flew off the shelves in South Korea when it launched and it’s known to be favourite of Korean drama star Jun Ji Hyun!

The serum earned its nickname from the prickling sensation it causes after application due to the formulation of citrus oils that tighten pores and repair skin damage. We also found out that the amount of tingling we felt showed how damaged our skin barrier was, the stronger it was the less prickling the weaker it was the more you felt the stimulation.

Apart from just being an extra layer of hydration as most serums are, the NACIFIC Fresh Herb Origin Serum also promises to fight against the signs of aging, minimise large pores, brighten dull lacklustre skin and treat other skin issues for healthier more luminous skin!

First Things First –

The packaging! Housed in a travel friendly plastic bottle it has a easy application dropper for ease of use and hygiene (remember the dropper tip should never touch your skin due to bacterial contamination!)

Texture:

The slightly watery bi-phase oil essence formula did not feel heavy on the skin at all, you do have to give it a bit of a shake to make sure that it is well mixed before application though.

Smell:

We have to admit, the Mask Time Team have a weak spot for citrus smelling products and upon opening we were smitten! The fragrance isn’t overpowering and it gives you fresh summer vibes.

And Now For The RESULTS –

Being nicknamed the “Damn Serum” we were expecting a lot of pain, but we were pleasantly surprised that the “pain” you actually feel is more of a tingling prickling sensation (not too dissimilar to The Ordinary Peeling Solution but definitely not as bad). According to Nacific the more damaged and oxidised your skin is the more you will feel this sensation and for us it was about a 4/10 on the pain factor (Rachel felt around a 2.5/10 and Estee felt 5/10) and with regular use this feeling will eventually fade away as it strengthens the skin’s natural barrier.

Immediate results can be seen just after a week of use (incorporating it in our Morning and Night skincare regime), skin felt tighter, brighter and much clearer!

Our Thoughts –

OK, so basically this serum is “DAMN” amazing! We LOVE the glow that you get from daily use and it’s definitely one for our Holy Grail shelf!
